Decimal Hours Calculator
Convert hours and minutes to decimal hours, and convert back.
Minutes are fractions of an hour
Divide minutes by 60, then add whole hours. Seven hours and 30 minutes is 7 + 30 ÷ 60 = 7.5 hours. Seven hours and 45 minutes is 7.75, not 7.45.
Converting back
Multiply decimal hours by 60 and round to the nearest minute. For example, 2.75 hours is 165 minutes, or 2 hours 45 minutes.
Rounding
The decimal result displays four decimal places. The reverse converter rounds to a whole minute; very small fractions may become zero minutes. Keep original clock records when your payroll system uses other rounding rules.
